Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser. localStorage is browser storage that stays on your device until it is cleared. STS uses both to operate the Platform, remember your preferences, and, where you allow it, understand how the Platform is used.

Cookies and localStorage do not give us access to files or information stored elsewhere on your device.

• Essential: Authentication session cookies that keep you signed in and help protect the Platform. These are required for core functionality.
• Preferences: localStorage entries for settings such as your theme and font preference. These help the Platform remember choices you make.
• Analytics: Google Analytics cookies, including _ga and _gid, which help us understand aggregate Platform usage.

Consent gating applies to analytics only. For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, STS requires opt-in consent before enabling analytics technologies. Visitors elsewhere can opt out of analytics at any time.

If we cannot determine your region, we treat you as requiring opt-in consent for analytics. In that case, analytics remains disabled until you choose to allow it.

You can change your analytics choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. It reopens the consent banner with your current choice, and your new selection (Accept or Decline) overwrites the stored sts_cookie_consent_v2 record.

You may also opt out of Google Analytics using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browser settings may also let you block or delete cookies, but doing so can affect Platform functionality.

Google Analytics processes analytics information on our behalf when analytics is enabled. Google's processing is governed by its applicable terms and privacy policy.
